Tim Denker, Chair of the Board of Directors, Velocity Lee's Summit

Entrepreneur, business owner and all-around risk taker, Tim Denker is the Velocity Lee’s Summit Board of Directors Chairman for 2020.

Denker has owned and managed Denker Law Firm since December of 2006, where he practices business law, probate, estate planning and real estate law.

When he’s not in the courtroom or culling through legal documents, Denker is also the co-owner of The Smoothie Shop and Supplements franchise, which began in the fall of 2017. Outside of his legal and smoothie ventures, Denker owns Lex Launch, LLC, a one-stop shop website for business owners to efficiently form their LLCs online with local, legal guidance.

“I am a risk taker,” Denker said. “After obtaining my Juris Doctorate from UMKC-School of Law in 2005 (and subsequently passing the Bar Exam), I took the risk and opened my law firm back in my hometown of Lee’s Summit in 2006 (right before the recession). Since, I have been able to run and grow my law practice while giving back to the community I love.”

Denker said he started his second business, www.lexlaunch.com, in 2014 because he continually saw issues with not only bad work-product, but advice that was coming from online legal documents.

“Between my law firm and Lex Launch, I have had the fortune of getting to help and work with a lot of small business owners,” he said. “This work has kept my entrepreneurial itch alive which helped me to take the leap and, with the help of my business partner, buy out the founder of the Smoothie Shop and Supplements franchise in January 2019. Only one year in this has been an exciting adventure that has taught me a ton and helps me look at running a business in a completely different light.”

Denker said his entrepreneurial motivation is simple: his amazing wife and two “incredible, fascinating, frustrating and beautiful children.”

“We live in Lee’s Summit, and my 5-year old is in her first year of kindergarten at Summit Christian Academy. When I used to have free time I enjoyed playing sports (recreational) and cheering on the Chiefs and the Royals.”

Denker also comes into 2020 civically and business-active in Lee’s Summit. On top of his duties with Velocity, he is co-chair of the Board of Directors for the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce.
